Five Reasons to Consider Snowshoeing

snowshoe_blog2The snow is coming, and pretty soon your favorite hiking trials will be covered by a thick layer of white powder. Does that mean your hiking quests have to end? Not at all! It means your favorite trails have become a winter wonderland waiting for you to explore further. Avoid lift lines, crowds, and expensive lift tickets while experiencing the great outdoors this winter by embarking on a snowshoeing adventure.

Below are 5 Reasons You Should Consider Snowshoeing:

1. Easy
Unlike other winter activities, snowshoeing is easy to learn. It is similar to hiking, just with different gear and a wider stance. Its ease makes it a great activity for people of all ages and athletic ability.
2. Inexpensive
The main costs for snowshoeing are rentals and occasionally park entrance fees. Rentals can be found at local shops, REI, or almost any sporting goods store.
3. Great Exercise
Snowshoeing can be anything from a nice stroll through the woods to climbing a 14er. No matter what route you choose, snowshoeing is an excellent form of cardio that also builds strength and balance.
4. Explore Nature
The same hike you have been doing for years can look and feel like a brand new trail on snowshoes. Lakes are frozen and the land is covered in a white fluffy blanket. It is absolutely beautiful.
5. FUN
Snowshoeing is an excellent way to spend a day with family and friends. Share laughs and make memories in the great outdoors.
