Each year, the CMC proudly presents several awards to members of our community that go above and beyond to give back to our wild places, mentor the next generation of mountaineers, or volunteer their time to make the CMC even better in the future.
Do you know someone who fits the above description? Nominate them for an award! The winners will be announced and presented at the annual CMC Benefit Gala on Friday, October 1st at the Museum of Nature and Science in Denver, CO.

Blaurock “Silver Piton” Volunteer of the Year Award
Named after Carl Blaurock—a founder of the Colorado Mountain Club and influential mountain instructor and climber in the US—the Blaurock “Silver Piton” Volunteer of the Year Award is presented annually since 1996 to a CMC member who serves as a positive and inspirational example of volunteerism, investing a substantial amount of volunteer effort in Colorado Mountain Club activities which result cumulatively in a significant improvement to the Club.

Gudy Gaskill Award
Named Gudrun “Gudy” Timmerhaus Gaskill (1927-2016)—a longtime Colorado Mountain Club member, former CMC president, and Mother of the Colorado Trail. The Gudy Gaskill Award is presented annually to a woman in the CMC who serves as a positive and inspirational example of volunteerism, investing a substantial amount of volunteer effort in Colorado Mountain Club activities which result cumulatively in a significant improvement to the Club.
